29. Jul Flash Brothers to release an album
The israeli band of brothers (pun intended) is releasing a mixed/unmixed/remixed album/compilation of 10 tracks on Baroque. All the tracks in the album are remixed by them.
Baroque challenges the run of the mill artist album & mix cd, putting an exciting new slant on the concept of a producer compiled album. Those enlisted to take on the ‘elements’ will compile a wish list of tracks for their album.. Then be given the parts that make up each track to remix them, and form a unique & brand new package of tracks that will make up their own dj mix! This series takes the dj / producer relationship to a new level & proves just why the whole transformation from Producer to DJ – DJ to producer, works so well.
Ehm. Didn’t Sasha do this with his Involver album, released in 2004? Anyway, the album comes with an unmixed CD with all the tracks in it.
The DJing and producing are coming closer togeher all the time. Digital platforms such as Ableton Live are lowering the step of doing your own tracks, remixes and mashups all the time. Nowadays to be an interesting DJ, you need to be an artist, an to have releases.
Having this kind of remix-album is good thinking though. Would this work if someone would release an (mix)album full of his or hers own track remixed by others?
