Being a “traditional DJ” is much easier. If you play vinyl (like we all did back in the good old days) you had couple of choices, and in 99% of the cases it was a Technics turntable.

Couple of years forward, in the new millennium playing CDs got easier and Pioneer CDJ-1000 became an industry standard.

Now you can play music from your laptop with a digital DJing system, control the music with CDs, turntables or a controller. And that is just why it’s so damn complicated.

This saturday is the most awaited day of the summer. Ever since I got confirmed I’m going to play at a massive indoor/outdoor spa party, I’ve been totally hyped about it.

My record bag is packed with summery tunes and also “Fiksaatio classics”, tracks I’ve been playing in their previous events.

The line up for the event is massive. Take a closer look to the poster above or the good looking video below.

Here’s a set I’m taking part to Kazantip Finland’s contest. They are sending out 8 finnish DJ’s to perform in Kazantip, the Ibiza of the Black Sea.

The festival is huge, check out the website for that.

I wanted to give a preview of my own productions and the way I build my DJ sets, but in tighter form. We start from laid-back and balearic beach feelings and start lifting the athmosphere to the clubbier direction towards the end.

Fiksaatio has been running for more than 2,5 years now, and the organization has been organizing nothing but amazing events all over the Pohjanmaa district. I’m not unfamiliar face in their events. I’ve played in several of their events: at the main stage or the afterparty. This time, and the second time in a row, we’re taking the charge of the chill out side of things.

Me and Echostep are starting the night in the Café lounge with 1,5 hour chill out special. This is a great honor as the DJ following our set is the best known chill out DJ in Finland, Indigo.

A good example how Fiksaatio combines people and various aspects of electronic music is that the night is ended with an Italo set by R.Cube and C-Hill. Sounds like a blast!

The main stage is concentrating to the more clubby side of things. The line up.

I won’t be attending to the next day’s event dubbed F/X Black, where the music will be hard. Instead I’m travelingg back to Tampere to have a studio session together with the musical prodigy Anton Sonin. While he still might be unknown to the big crowds, he is signed to labels such High Contrast, Tone Diary and most recently to Anjunabeats (a collab with Super8 & Tab).

His first ever release was released on Subtraxx, and we share the same taste in music. We’ve worked together before, and now it’s our sole intention to have a track ready to released.

Going to be a massive weekend, I’ve been waiting for this weekend for a while now!

I had some time in the studio between original tracks so I was free to do work, if it was something I believe I could make better.

When I heard it was a track by Tiesto, I was totally blown away.

The catch was, the original is a 14-year-old track, there’s no midi data or individual samples available what so ever, so everything had to be re-created and so on.

It was quite a job to update a almost techy track to be progressive track in 2010.

So, here’s sneak peek of my upcoming official release of Tiesto – The Tube. Upcoming in Bonzai Music later this spring, early summer.

Tasadi feat The Aurielle Project – We Are Human (Ville Lope Evil Twin Remix) [Sedna]

This is a remix I made late last summer. I originally did a laid back full vocal version, but later decided to go towards more clubby route. The bassline is gritty yet groovy, making sure the asses are moving on the dance floor.

The is now out from all your favorite stores, the track was released on 25th January 2010.

More Remixes to come

If you listened to my Producer Special 2009 artist promomix, you probably noticed I did an official remix of one of my all time trance favorites: Mike Shiver – Feelings. The original was released in legendary Lost Language back in 2004.

The sound of label has came down from uplifting trance to progressive direction, so they decided to have their catalogue full of trance classics to be remixed again by established and rising names in the world of progressive.

I’m so grateful of the chance to remix a track that has touched me years ago, and give it a touch of the new decade.
The remix will be released in March-April 2010.

I also did a remix of Bonzai in-house artist Nathan Profitt’s track Strange Days. There’s also one more huge remix I finished today before leaving to the airport, and I have to say, it will be massive. Massive.

Original work

My next single Farewell To Forgiven will be released on Subtraxx in late March. The track continues in the path what pure progressive trance means to me: groovy basslines, detailed background fx’s and beautiful melodies. At the same time the track gave me a change to test how it is like to work with a vocalist.

Farewell To Forgiven presents the vocal talent of miss Ruusa Kangas. It’s not a full vocal track though, but having her vocal phrases to build the atmosphere – well, you get the picture soon enough.
